Diamond Grinding & Polishing Existing Marble
Floors
Everyone has seen big marble floors that either show wear and tear and traffic or that has been unevenly installed resulting in lippage. By diamond grinding the entire floor we are able to eliminate all lippage of tiles and repolish back to a high gloss. The same process is done for a worn out finish on a marble floor except it is not needed to start with as low of a grit.
Vitrification
Vitrification is a process of using heat and fusion to convert marble/terrazzo to have a class like surface. Vitrification has it's positive and negative points. For the positives, it is cheaper than diamond grinding, has a super shine, is slip resistant and is durable. The negative is that it can be over used and in time may attain an orange peel look. Due to the acids that break down the calcium and carbonate of the stone, over use could give it a dimpled finish. In that case, a diamond grind can return it to its natural look.
Adhesive Removal
With a special attachment for our grinders, we have
the ability to remove thinsets and carpert or vinyl adhesives. Shot
blasting is an option but most of the time it will not completely remove
all adhesives. After the grind is finished, the floor is left with a
surface clean of all contaminates and ready for what ever finish is
selected.
